The Power of Prayer

We had just finished feeding the homeless under the bridge in Nashville TN on a Friday evening and just started the church service. We had over 40 volunteers helping out that Friday. There was a homeless gentleman that was drunk, loud and a little out of control during the service. When working with a street ministry, you will encounter different situations that you will have to adjust and deal with accordingly. When the church service was finished, we asked if anyone needed prayer to please step forward. The gentleman that was loud and drunk came forward and asked for prayer from the pastor that was speaking that night.

When came back to the bridge a few weeks later to feed the homeless again, I was walking around to ensure that everyone had a plate of food and I noticed that the same gentleman that was drunk at the last service was now sober. His comments were, ”After that preacher prayed for me, I figured that I needed to change. And I have I have not had a drink since then.”

We have seen this gentleman two additional times under the bridge when we were feeding the homeless and both times he was sober and calm. And he also had his wife with him. She stated that after he received prayer from that pastor that he stopped drinking and his abusive behavior. And she wanted to find out more about the Jesus since her husband has become a changed man.

Now, both of them tell their testimony to others underneath the bridge.
